Baguio: The 5,000 Pesos Challenge

THE Summer Capital of the Philippines is one of the most inexpensive places you can go to for a family or barkada vacation mainly because of the big savings you can get on accommodations. Baguio climate is cool year-round. So while it’s really hot here in the metro, Baguio proved to be different. That’s why most hotels and inns in Baguio do not provide their guests with aircon. No air conditioning = cheap rates.

I went on a Baguio trip to see if I can enjoy a three-day vacation alone with only me spending less than P5,000. Well, prepared to be surprised, because I got there on a comfortable air-conditioned bus, stayed in a hotel, enjoyed really good food and had fun walks around the parks. Yes, I won the challenge. I only wished I went with a friend – it would have been a blast!

For kicks, I even threw in a massage treatment, visited the museum of National Artist and set aside P500 for pasalubong.
